2212. Dickason, A.: The Geometry of Sheet Metal Work: For Students and Craftsmen

Published by Isaac Pitman, London. 1969

Hardback reprint. The unclipped dust wrapper is a bit rubbed and chipped at the edges with a couple of small tears with chips lost at the tips, top and bottom of spine etc. Otherwise both book and jacket are in very good condition. There are no previous owner names or other marks. This book makes possible the accurate geometrical solution of all problems of pattern development normally encountered, by giving examples arranged according to a systematic plan which progressively illustrates the underlying principles. In the five "courses" into which the book is divided, the three basic methods of Radial Line, Parallel Line and Triangulation are applied in more and more complex examples, culminating in the solution of difficult problems of pipe intersection, twisted surfaces and spiral chutes. Each stage in the solution of the problem is clearly explained and shown in detailed drawings, and the superiority of the accurate geometrical method, in terms of time and material saved, is effectively demonstrated. All sheet metal workers will find this book invaluable.

2358. Exley, C.L.: A History of the Torksey and Mansfield China Factories

Published by G.R.G. Exley, Lincoln. 1970

1st edition UK hardback. There are three large tears to the dust wrapper but no loss. Slight wear and chipping at the edges but generally very good and scarce in any condition. The book is very near fine. This is an authoritative work on the porcelain produced at Torksey and Mansfield and the information in Mr Exley's manuscript has been compiled with meticulous care. The book contributes a great deal of information on the comparatively short period when these factories were in production, also on the period when William Billingsley was working at Mansfield. An earlier book by C.L. Exley: "The Pinxton China Factory" published in 1963 is now recognised as the standard work on the history of that particular factory.
